Our Story

Robert and I had our first date on May 15,2017. I remember pulling up to the Chuey's Mexican with so much excitement. Robert and I met on line and after a few conversations on the phone and many text messages, we were going on our first date. The funny part is I made him wait until a Sunday night to go out just in case it didn't go well. I knew though in my heart it would. We went on that first date and that is our story.
It is so funny how God works in mysterious ways. Exactly one week before we met I sold my town house and put a contract on a new house. I was planning to start living this life with just myself, my wonderful family, and great friends. If I had only known, God had a bigger plan in mind.
We currently live in our new home with our sweet, lovable "Gentle Giant" Roxy. She is a bull mastiff. We have enjoyed traveling over the past year.
Robert and I had talked about marriage for a while. We knew we loved each other and wanted to start planning for the future. There were many hints that the ring had been purchased but due to FedEx it had been lost. Robert went as far as to one day yelling at FedEx, or so I thought.
So St. Patrick's Day rolls around, which is my favorite holiday. We had planned an evening out with some family and friends at Shillings on the square in Marietta. Shillings is an important place for me because it was my Grandpa's hang out on St. Patrick's day. It is also a place as a child I would talk to my mom and dad about how I wanted to get married on that day. Robert told me that I needed to ride with my mom and dad down to Shillings. I did so and my Aunt was able to come into town.
Robert finally shows up in a green suit. I laughed so hard and was so, 'Wow this man loves me.'
Then he said "Maggie, I have some special guests here because originally I wanted to propose but you know the ring didn't come in."
I said, "You didn't get little people to dress up at leprechauns did you?"
He laughed. To my surprise it was my bestie Brooke from Alabama and my friend from work Gryta from Nashville. I was totally surprised.
About 30 minutes passed, I left the table and when I got back the waitress said let's take a group picture. I was like, "Sure."
Then she said, "Ok, a funny one." And then she said, "Hey guy in the green suit what are you doing?"
I turned around and Robert was on one knee. I "ugly" cried.
All he could get out was "Will you marry me?"
I just kept saying yes. Then even more people showed up to celebrate. The weekend was wonderful with friends and family. That's when the wedding planning began.
